General Information

The 24 Hours of Political Psychology is a yearly conference organized by the German Political Psychology Network. The conference provides a platform for researchers, practitioners, and students to share their work, exchange ideas, and foster collaborations in the field of political psychology.

As in previous years, there is no participation fee. The conference theme is Digitalization, Discourse, and Democracy - Political Psychology in the Modern Age. Despite this focus, the conference welcomes submissions on all topics under the umbrella of political psychology.

Presentation Formats and Procedure

The conference will feature four presentation formats. When you submit your contribution, please choose the format that best fits your submission.

Research panels

This category includes a set of 4-5 research presentations on a common topic, phenomenon, or theory in political psychology to be delivered within a maximum of 75 minutes. Submissions should include a panel title and abstract (max. 250 words), as well as author names and affiliations, and titles and abstracts (max. 250 words) for all individual presentations. Please also provide the name of the chair and, if applicable, the discussant.

Individual presentations

This category is open to individual research presentations of about 15 minutes (including discussion). Submissions should include a title, an abstract (max. 250 words), and the name(s) and affiliation(s) of the presenter(s).

"Shorties"

This category includes short research presentations, presentations on registered reports, pre-analysis plans, or project ideas of about 5 minutes. We particularly welcome submissions of non-finalized projects for which presenters could benefit from feedback or potential collaborations. Each session, including several "shorties" put into one session by the scientific committee, will conclude with a dedicated discussion period to facilitate feedback and exchange among participants. Submissions should include a title, an abstract (max. 250 words), and the name(s) and affiliation(s) of the presenter(s).

Round-table discussions

This category provides an opportunity for debates and discussions on timely methodological and theoretical issues in political psychology of about 75 minutes. Submissions should include the proposed topic of the discussion, a set of open or controversial questions to be discussed, a list of 3-5 discussants (confirmed or proposed), and a moderator including their names and affiliations. The submitter must serve either as a discussant or as the moderator.

Please note that the Scientific Committee reserves the right to reassign submissions to a different presentation format where appropriate, taking into account thematic fit and scheduling considerations.

FAQ

Can I attend the 24 Hours of Political Psychology conference without giving a presentation?

Yes, you may attend without presenting. However, because participation is free and funding is limited, the total number of attendees is restricted. Priority will therefore be given to presenters, while non-presenting participants will be offered places subject to availability.

After notifications on abstract acceptance or rejection have been sent out, we will send presenters a separate invitation to register for the conference. If places remain after presenter registration closes, we will invite non-presenters to register. Should demand exceed the number of available places, spots will be allocated by lottery.
